A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
